Meet Your Martha’s Vineyard Charter Captains
Mason and Lynne are the Martha’s Vineyard charter captains behind Our Passion, a 42-foot sailboat departing from Vineyard Haven. Captain Mason has been sailing since he was 9 years old. He first learned how to sail on the Charles River in Boston, where he grew up. On vacations to Martha’s Vineyard his family would rent sunfish and Hobie catamarans to sail in the protected waters of the Lagoon Pond in Vineyard Haven. He later moved to New York City and then back to Massachusetts. A constant theme throughout his life has always been “where am I going to get to sail and how often am I going to be able to do it?” This lead him to buying a sailboat in 2014 and structuring his time to try to sail and work on boats with every free minute he had.
In 2016, Captain Mason met Lynne. Lynne was an instant fan of being on the water and could not get enough of being on a sailboat. As their relationship developed, they prioritized sailing, especially in the waters around Martha’s Vineyard as much as possible.
Starting a business together became the next logical choice and Mason and Lynne pursued getting their captains licenses and turning their passion into a profession. What you will experience sailing with them is that they take safety, following federal, state and local laws and prioritizing their sailing guests needs at the foremost of every decision they make. While sailing might still be a hobby, it’s their business now and it is their passion to bring you the best day of your Martha’s Vineyard vacation. - US Coast Guard 100 Ton License
- American Professional Captains Association – Random Drug Testing pool member
- US Coast Guard Captain Medical Certificate
- Sailing Captain Endorsement
- Assistance Towing Captain Endorsement
- Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certified
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate (Deep water, CPR, AED)
- Safety and Survival Training
- Vessel Stability Training (ALMSEA-205)
- Onboard Drill Instructor Certification (ALMSEA-334)
- Licensed Driver, clean record (auto and manual transmission)
- TWIC Card
